Fruit the Original Superfood

There was a time, not so long ago, when eating fruit was the most natural thing in the world. As children, we’d bite into a juicy apple, pick sun-ripened berries from the bush, or dive into an orange on a hot summer’s day.
Fruit was life. It was joy. It was nature’s perfect gift, wrapped in its own sweet, vibrant packaging.
Fast forward to today… and somehow fruit has become feared. So many people now say they’re “intolerant” to fruit, or their digestion can’t handle it. Even health-conscious individuals are cutting fruit out of their diet, worried about “sugar” and “fructose.”
So what happened?
In our modern, synthetic world, we’re surrounded by food-like substances rather than real, living food. Almost everything in a packet is laced with preservatives, flavour enhancers, artificial sweeteners, emulsifiers, stabilisers, and a long list of chemical additives the body was never designed to process. These compounds create an acid-forming environment in the body, triggering inflammation, gut issues, skin breakouts, brain fog, fatigue … and over time, chronic illness.
The truth is, our bodies are overloaded.
Our detox organs, especially the liver and lymphatic system, are doing their best, but when we add fruit into an already toxic system, the body may go into a state of healing crisis.
This is often misunderstood. The fruit is not the problem. In fact, it’s trying to help.
Why is fruit demonised when it is such a delicious and powerful
natural cleanser. It helps the body mobilise toxins, alkalise the system, and support the elimination of waste.
But if the body is already burdened and struggling, this sudden detox can feel uncomfortable. Headaches, bloating, rashes, fatigue…
These symptoms aren’t “bad reactions to fruit,” but signs of the body attempting to heal.
…
What we’ve lost sight of is fruit’s natural design. It’s made to be eaten raw, preferably on an empty stomach, where it digests quickly and easily. Unlike processed sugar, the fructose in fruit is paired with fibre, enzymes, antioxidants, and a spectrum of nutrients that help the body metabolise it smoothly. Nature doesn’t make mistakes.
…
So before you turn away from fruit, consider this: The symptoms could be your body’s way of crying out for a reset, a deeper cleanse.
Acidic foods, like animal flesh, grains, dairy, alcohol, and ultra-processed foods leave behind a heavy residue that clogs the system. Over time, this internal congestion leads to inflammation in the gut, joints, lungs, and skin.
In contrast, most fruits and vegetables are alkaline-forming, helping to dissolve acidic build-up and restore the body’s natural pH balance.
Many have found that even conditions like Type 2 diabetes can shift dramatically through fruit-based detox protocols, especially when done gently and with care. Juice fasting or should I say juice feasting can be deeply healing and transformational with the right guidance.
So before you turn away from fruit, consider this:
The symptoms could be your body’s way of crying out for a reset, a deeper cleanse.
And you don’t need expensive powders, supplements, or synthetic detox programs. Sometimes, the most powerful healing comes from going back to basics.
Pure water, deep rest, stillness, sunshine, fresh air, exercise… and simple, beautiful, whole fruit.
Let your body guide you. Trust its wisdom. And remember: healing is a process. Let nature do what it does best.
