Who decides? The Mind or the Heart?

We often believe our choices are born from the mind. Many people think that reason, logic, and analysis shape the path ahead.
Yet beneath all thought, emotion is quietly steering us. Every decision begins as a feeling ... a stirring in the chest, a sense of ease or resistance, a gentle nudge that says yes or not yet. The heart always speaks first... the mind simply finds the words to follow, justifying the choice of the heart as if the decision were actually made by the mind! Modern science calls it “emotional reasoning”; ancient wisdom calls it intuition. Both agree: the signals of the body are not distractions, but guides.
This becomes beautifully clear when we fast. Whether we’re fasting from food, technology, noise, or constant doing, the stillness invites our deeper wisdom to rise. Without distraction, we begin to notice how much of our behaviour is guided by emotional undercurrents … the desire for comfort, the avoidance of discomfort, the need to feel full when something inside us feels empty.
